PROGRAMS
Mr.
Sullivan's presentations vary depending on the needs of the audience.
In general, he discusses his books, how he does his research, his
writing, and his background. For history curriculums, he can offer
a good deal of information on World War II and how to obtain further
information about the era. His programs are usually 45 to 60 minutes,
including Q&A.
He
has also spoken extensively and on a wide variety of topics to adult
audiences, especially at conferences such as NCTE, ALA , and ALAN.
He brings his expertise as a public librarian, a school librarian,
and a writer to his presentations.
NUMBER
OF PRESENTATIONS PER DAY AND GROUP SIZE
Mr.
Sullivan can do up to three presentations per day to any size audience.
For school visits, please group students by grade levels. When more
than one grade level makes up the audience, please group grade levels
as close in age as possible.
EQUIPMENT
NEEDED
For
large audiences, please provide a microphone. Also have the following
items handy for presentations to any size audience: drinking water,
chair and table, standing easel with pad and marking pens.
HONORARIUM
This
should be presented to him at the end of the last session on the
last day of the visit. Generally speaking, his honorarium
is $1,000 a day, plus expenses.
The
honorarium listed is the per-day honorarium (you would also be responsible
for their travel expenses, hotel and meals). Sometimes, the fee
may be negotiable depending on what you'd like him to do and where
you're located in relation to where he lives, and whether he plans
to do research in your area, etc.
For
further information, especially about the expenses (travel, hotel,
and meals), click the "Arrange An Appearance" button and
see "General Information on the Cost of an Author Appearance"
as well as the 'Honorariums' section near the bottom of "How
to Plan an Author Appearance."
