BIOGRAPHY I BOOKS I PRESENTATIONS I BOOK ORDERING

Paul is available to make the following presentations:

Brain Food: Games that Make Kids Think:

A full or half day workshop that teaches a dozen or more logic and strategy games, word games and math games, all of which develop higher level thinking skills. Participants should expect to spend the day playing. (This workshop is suitable for educators, parents, student groups or any combination thereof.)

Note: for an additional fee, participants will receive a copy of Fleisher's book Brain Food.

Audience limited to 50 participants.

Teaching Inductive and Deductive Logic:

Inductive and deductive logic are the basic tools of all disciplines--from math and reading to science and the social studies. But we rarely teach them explicitly. This full or half-day workshop provides hands-on demonstrations of a number of active, playful ways to help children develop these essential thinking skills. (This workshop is also suitable for educators, parents, student groups or any combination thereof.)

Audience limited to 50 participants.

Writing and Publishing Children's Books:

This full or half day workshop will provide practical guidance in how to write for children and how to get that work published. Topics include choosing a subject; manuscript mechanics; revising and rewriting; copyright basics; contracts and writers' finances; and how to submit manuscripts for publication. (Workshop for adults. Participants should bring a piece of written work and expect to share it with others.)

Audience limited to 30 participants.

How a Book Comes to Be:

This presentation takes the audience through the process by which an author creates a book, from the first glimmer of an idea to the final product. Participants will have the opportunity to ask about the nuts and bolts of writing and publishing a book, and perhaps be inspired to try writing themselves. The presentation is illustrated with slides and lasts approximately one hour.

For school presentations, the preferred audience is no more than 50 students, and 3-4 presentations per day. This presentation is also available for evening events, such as PTA meetings and young writers' conferences.

Other Topics:

Paul Fleisher can also make hour-long presentations about some of the specific subjects he has written about: Ice cream manufacturing, parasites, marine science, ecology or other subjects.

Again, for school presentations, the preferred audience is no more than 50 students, and 3-4 presentations per day. This presentation is also available for evening events, such as PTA meetings and young writers' conferences.
