MATT NOVAK
Writer & Illustrator

BIOGRAPHY I BOOKS I PRESENTATIONS I BOOK ORDERING

Matt Novak has been making up stories and pictures as long as he can remember.

He grew up in the small town of Sheppton, Pennsylvania, where he spent a lot of time daydreaming. As a youngster, he put on puppet shows for his fourth grade classmates, made

some animated films with his little super-8 movie camera (back in the old days before home video), and he acted in some plays in school and later did some professional acting.

When he grew up, he attended

the School of Visual Arts in New York City and learned how much fun it was to write and illustrate books for children.

Now he creates books that make him laugh, and he hopes kids will get a good chuckle out of them too.

In keeping with his background, Matt Novak continues to perform, but now he does programs for children, schools and conferences.

His awards include a School Library Journal Best Book of the Year as well as a Parent's Choice Honor for Mouse TV, and the International Reading Association Children's Choice Award for his I-Can-Read title, Newt.

A multi-talented man, Matt Novak has worked as a puppeteer, a teacher, and a Disney artist. Among the things he loves are reading, biking, hiking, gardening, and cooking. His favorite food is lasagna.

Matt Novak and his family live in Pennsylvania.
