Margie Palatini loves having the opportunity for wonderful "up close and personal" author day visits, and having all of her characters meet your "characters."
BOOKING A DATE Margie books up quickly, so please book at least 6-8 months in advance. Once a mutually convenient date has been decided and confirmed with Balkin Buddies, Ms. Palatini will send you an Author's Day information packet that is chock full of posters, bookmarks, fun activities and study guides as well as other helpful suggestions that will assist in making the visit the best it can be!
PRESENTATIONS The presentations are fun, interactive, focus on creativity, and feature the "stories behind the stories." The goal of the day is to inspire creativity in the language, visual and dramatic arts. NUMBER OF DAYS PER VISIT Margie can visit your area for two days at a time, but no longer than that. For overnight visits or long stays, she will need to know the hotel, its amenities, and who will be escorting her daily from place to place.
NUMBER OF PRESENTATIONS PER DAY AND LENGTH OF EACH She can do up to three 45-minute presentations a day, plus autograph books for as long as necessary. Each program is different and geared to age-appropriateness of the group. She can do a power-point presentation, if audience size indicates that type of program would be more desirable. She's happy to have lunch with small group of students, and autograph books. SIZE OF GROUPS Although she can speak to large groups in auditoriums, she prefers smaller sessions. LOCAL
VISITS VERSUS OUT-OF-TOWN VISITS She does some out-of-town visits as well but on a more limited basis. Her honorarium should be presented to her at the end of the last day of the visit. Generally speaking, for local visits, she charges $1,800 a day, plus expenses. For out-of-town visits, she charges $2,000 to $2,500 a day, plus expenses, depending on location.
