Lizabeth
Zindel has two novels published by Viking Penguin: The Secret
Rites of Social Butterflies (2008) and Girl of the Moment
(2007), which is being developed into a feature film by
Richard Gladstein (who worked on Finding Neverland and
Bourne Identity ). Her third novel, a modern interpretation
of Hamlet with all genders reversed, is scheduled to be released
in the fall of 2010.
Lizabeth
was picked as a YA Author to Watch by Publisher's Weekly
and Girl of the Moment was among the New York Public
Library's 2008 Best Books for the Teen Age 2008.
The
daughter of Paul Zindel, Lizabeth was raised in New York City
in a literary atmosphere. She attended the Dalton School and Wesleyan
University, where she double majored in English and Theatre. She
sang in the children's chorus at the Metropolitan Opera, appearing
in productions such as La Bohème with Placido
Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti. As a college student, Lizabeth
interned at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film and Nickelodeon. She
also studied abroad for a semester at London University where
she interned at the Royal National Theatre during Richard Eyre's
revival of Guys and Dolls. After college, Lizabeth moved
to Los Angeles where she worked as a book agent's assistant at
Creative Artists Agency, followed by assisting the CEO of Madonna's
film production company, Maverick Entertainment, and Maverick
Records, the record company founded by Madonna.
Lizabeth
Zindel is a member of the Actors Studio's Playwrights and Directors
Workshop. She works full-time as an author in Manhattan and loves
creating stories for teens.
